Final Project

I have been feeling anxious about what topic I should be covering through the final project. I needed to try and compartmentalize and organize my interests. I cook... I have a cat... I try to sleep a lot... I read books and watch movies. But, I feel as if being a teacher is one of the most important aspects of my life, and that is being threatened by the politics behind the education system.

My purpose is to inform my audience about an issue that is effecting the NYC public education system negatively. What is hindering our students from graduating on time, or even if they do graduate there are many students who are just being pushed out, and they do not have the skills to go off and be successful in college. Although this is a huge issue with many causes, I want to zero in on maybe one or two issues... If I do anymore, it may be a documentary on the corrupt system behind the system. The thing about it is, most people can vote plans into action or stop them from taking place. We can protest and rally. But most people do not know what the issues are...

I want my audience to be New Yorkers. Our youth's education effects ALL of us. They are the ones to grow up and take care of NY. If they are to be ill educated, what would NY be like? Even if it helps two people get into action over our education, it's still better than none.

I have never made a project like this before. But I am excited about what my abilities will allow me to create. I would like to use photostory 3, windows movie maker, Jing, and the webtool YouTube Video Downloader.

I want to use newsclips, shots of news articles, and hopefully some clips of people's testimonials on the issues at hand. I want to use power colors like black and dark red, to emphasize the seriousness of the issue. It's all about tone. If I used candy pink, it may not be taken as seriously because it sets a different tone. I have no idea how I am going to arrange any of it yet, since I am still tinkering with programs. But hopefully by the end of two weeks I will have a project that projects clarity in it's objective.
