I think it is a great idea that Google was able to notice this discrepancy in the network world which I have personally experienced. I love college football games. About 5 years ago I stared following the Terps football team. Since this school is in Maryland (UMD) some of the games were not available in my local area. Comcast sponsors the team so all the games were available through their cable system.
The rest of the world had to watch the game on ESPN360.com, which was fine until I tried it one Thursday night. I was unable to enter into the website because my cable provider was not Comcast; this company is still not currently available in my area, so it is not like I had the choice to ever choose them. But yet and still I was blocked from entering the site.
To me that was not only unfair but it depicts the same monopoly we have been fighting for years with the phone/cable companies. I strongly agree that no one has the right to interfere between the internet and the user, as long as there are not any violations of legal laws.
