My final presentation is on the very first New York immigrant, a Dominican sailor by the name of Jan Rodrigues according to the Dutch, but his name is truly, Juan Rodriguez. This historical fact is important to me because I am a Dominican that has always contemplated the process of migration, its benefits and risks to that migrating community. I also deem it an important part of not only the history of the Dominican Republic but the United States as well. This is a project that CUNY Dominican Studies Institute has embarked on; and as a loyal employee I feel compelled to educate and share this information that will rewrite history.
My target audience is all those that are willing to learn and teach others what they have learned. The history of this great nation binds us all as one people.
I intend to use different media genres to express this historical content. I will use newspaper articles, press releases, interviews and voice recordings to relay the events that occurred. I will incorporate photo story and video. The completed projected will be viewable on YouTube.
